Leh Palace is a former royal palace modeled on the Potala Palace in Lhasa Tibet. 7) Hawa Mahal, Jaipur, Rajasthan
The renowned “Palace of the Winds” or Hawa Mahal is one of the prominent tourist attractions in Jaipur city. It is located in the heart of Jaipur and was constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. The palace is believed to have been constructed in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god and the architect is Lal Chand Ustad. There are in total 953 windows or “Jharokhas” which are decorated with intricate designs.
6) City Palace, Jaipur, Rajasthan
City Palace is located in the heart of the Jaipur. This palace includes the famous ‘Chandra Mahal’ and ‘Mubarak Mahal’. The palace is located towards the northeast side of central Jaipur and has many courtyards and buildings. This palace was built in 1729 and 1732 AD by Sawai Jai Singh II. He ruled in Amer and planned and built the outer walls of the Palace and later rulers added to the architecture of this palace. The architectural styles are largely based on a fusion of Rajput, Mughal and European styles. Tourists love to visit this place and is always filled with tourists from all around the World.
5) Amba Vilas Palace, Mysore Karnataka
You talk about exploring Royal Palaces India and here come the name of Mysore. The city is famous for its royal heritage and Mysore Palace is no strange place in Royal Heritage of Mysore. It’s a Rajput Palace with element of Muslim Architecture situated in the middle of the city and is a remainder of grandeur of a bygone era. The Maharaja’s Palace is a beautiful three storied stone buildings of fine gray granite and rich pink marble domes. 4) Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara Gujarat
Laxmi Vilas Palace, built by Sayajirao Gaekwad in the 1890, is the magnificent residence of the royal family of Baroda. It is reputed to have been the largest private dwelling built till date and four times the size of Buckingham Palace. The most impressive Raj-era palace in Gujarat, its elaborate interiors boast well-maintained mosaics, chandeliers and artworks. 3) Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur Rajasthan
Umaid Bhawan Palace, located in Jodhpur, is one of the World’s largest private residences. During its construction, the palace was called as Chittar Palace and was built to provide employment to thousands of people during the time of famine. There are in all 347 rooms in this palace which serves as the principle residence of the erstwhile Jodhpur Royal Family.
