10. Jammu City

Jammu is most famous land in North India. The Duggar land where the past still has a living presence. A land of grand ancient temples, and beautiful palaces. Nestled against the backdrop of the snow-capped Pir Panjal Mountains, the regions of Jammu constitutes the southernmost unit of the state of Jammu & Kashmir. 

It Forms part of the transition between the Himalayan range in the north and the dusty plains of Punjab in the south. Between these two extremities lie a series of scrub-covered hills, forested mountain ranges and river valleys, encompassing several microclimatic regions that extend from Kishtawar in the north-east to Akhnoor in the south-west, and the historic town of Poonch in the north-west to the borders of Kangra (HP) in the south-east. The Shivalik hills cut across the area from the west while the rivers Ravi, Tawi and Chenab cut their way through the region.

9. Katra

Katra is located in Jammu and it is a small town in Udhampur district of the India, state of Jammu & Kashmir. It is situated in the foothills of the Trikuta Mountains, where the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi is located. It is located 42 km from the city of Jammu. 

Shir Mata Vaishno Devi temple is the holy place where every month people visit for yatra here from all over the world. And they have great experience here and Indian every year visit here. There you can see and visit holy place like Charan Paduka, Shalimar Park, Darshan Dwar, Ban Ganga, Bhairo Mandir, Sanjhi Chhat Helipad, Katra City, Trikuta Parvat, Geeta Mandir.

8. Mansar

The history of mansar and surinsar goes back to the time of Mahabhartata. Babar Vahan, son of Arjun and Ulpi (daughter of king Nag), was ruling this area during Mahabhartata. After the war of the mahabhartata arjun performed "Ashwamegh Yagya" to prove his supriority over the land. The horse (used as sign of power for Ashwamegh Yagya) was captured by Babar Vahan at village 'khoon' nearby village Ramkot on dhar Udhampur road where Arjun was killed by babar vahan. With joy of victory, babar vahan presented the head of Arjun to his mother Ulpi. She told him that he has killed his father. To make arjun alive again, mani from sheshnag was required. Hence babar vahan made a surang through his arrow and formed surangsar which is now named as surinsar. After defeating sheshnag and capturing mani, babar vahan came out at manisar later on known as mansar.

This lake is famous for the history of mahabhartata. Mansar is a holy site as well, sharing the legend and sanctity of Lake Mansarovar. There are ancient temples on the lake side, which are often visited by devotees in large numbers. Some Hindus from the region perform Mudan ceremony of the male here. The religious importance and heritage, the Mansar Lake  is also picking up as a great tourist spot for all its scenic beauty, flora & fauna. The lake has proper walk way all around with required illumination, with projected view decks to enjoy flickering of seasonal birds, tortoise and fishes of different species. 

7. Kishtwar

Kishtwar is a town in Jammu and & Kashmir. Kishtwar is the land of Saffron and the rare blue sapphires, is 48 km away, and well off the Jammu Sirnagar highway. In its neighborhood is the famous shrine of 18 armed. 

Goddess at Sarhal which apparently is the corrupted from the term shaktisthal or the place of goddess. Well off the Jammu Sirnagar road, Kishtwar is connected to Srinagar by a trekking route, which goes through Banderkot, Dadhpeth, Mughal Maidan, Chhatru, Sinthan and Daksum, crossing the 3,797 metres Sinthan pass. One can also trek from Kishtwar into Zanskar. The town is noted for its natural beauty, history and art.

6. Sanasar

Sanasar is the name given to the two small villages of Sana and Sar in Jammu province, Jammu and Kashmir state, India. Named after small local lakes, Sana and Sar are located 20 km west of Patnitop, Udhampur district on the national highway 1A, A nearby mountain range is called the Shanta Ridge. The Shank Pal Temple is located at the highest point of the Shank Pal ridge, at an altitude of 2,800 m, a few hours walk from Sanasar.

The 400-year-old temple is dedicated to Nag Shank Pal. No mortar was used to join the stones of the temple. Shanta Gala is a pass on the shanta ridge which offers a view of the Panchari valley on the other side of the ridge. The pass leads to the Lander area. The famous tourist spots are Shank Pal Temple, and Ladoo Ladi, a nature walk starting from Madha Top. Many tourist visit here for paragliding rides, rock-climbing, and abseiling in Sanasar. 

 

5. Patnitop

Patnitop  or Patni Top is a hilltop is located in Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir state of India on National Highway 1A 112 km. It is situated on a plateau in the shiwalik belt of the Himalayas, Patnitop sits at an altitude of 2,024 m (6,640 ft). The river Chenab flows in close proximity to this location. The name ‘Patnitop’ is a distortion of the original name of the place, “Patan Da Talab” meaning “Pond of the Princess”. In olden times a pond existed in the meadows and a certain princess often used to bathe. The towns of kud and Batote are nearby. Kud is very small town where sweet shops make fresh Patissa (a sweet). It may be bought hot and melts in one’s mouth. Batote is known as a place for quality rajma or the kidney bean.

4. Bhadarwah

Bhadarwah is a town in Doda district, state of Jammu & Kashmir in India. Bhadarwah valley is located in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, 80 km from Batote. This place is full of natural beauty which lends to its nickname, “mini Kashmir”. 

Apart having picture-perfect scenic beauty due to beautiful forests, the town contains many small streams flowing through its various parts. Bhaderwah also known as “Nagon ki bhoomi” means ‘land of Snakes’. The history is very little known to general masses.
